20-April-20

Dear Parents,

I hope you and all your families are safe and well. I am contacting you after the Easter holidays to let you know that Learning From Home is beginning today Monday 20th April 2020. From today all teaching and learning in St. Mark’s S.N.S. will be extended to the use of Google Classroom, an online teaching and learning portal for teachers, pupils and parents. It allows the children to engage in remote digital learning with their teachers.

Your child’s teacher has provided him/her with an individual email account and password for use with their Google Classroom. This account is to be used for teaching and learning only.

You as parent or guardian will need to sign in to your child’s account. The class teacher sent you a text message with your child’s email address and password. We would ask you to change this password immediately.

The following are the 7 Steps involved in joining your Google Classroom for the first time:

  1. Go to classroom.google.com
  2. ClickGo to Classroom
  3. Enter pupils email address Click next.
  4. Enter pupils password, Click next.
  5. Click on Join
  6. Click on the letter on the top right and Sign out of the Classroom.

If you haven’t signed up already, please click Here to fill in this form in relation to Google Classroom, online learning for your child.

Please Remember: A form must be completed for each child attending St. Mark's S.N.S.

We will continue to post weekly work on the school website: www.saintmarks.ie in the Learning From Home section.

We realise that in some homes there may be issues with connectivity or access to devices, but there are plenty of other activities included that can be worked on without relying on connecting to the internet.

Please be aware that this work is not compulsory, but is to be guided by you and your children. During these strange times, fresh air, exercise, and above all your own and your children’s mental health and wellbeing are most important.

If you have any difficulty with the work, please email your class teacher and he/she will get back to you. With every good wish.

Kind Regards,

Richie Walsh

Principal
