Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we come to the end of yet another academic year, I would like to thank you, our parents and guardians, for the unwavering and steadfast support you have shown tot he school this year. It has been another very successful year for St. Marks. I wish you and your families a safe and happy summer holiday.

I would also like to bring the following important information to your attention:

2. The school will close for Summer Holidays at 12 noon on Friday 28th June 2019.

Book Rentals and Materials Money:

Thank you to all parents and guardians who have paid the Rental& Materials Money for 2019/20. Payment of the Rental ensures that the purchase ofbooks and materials can be done before September. If your payment is still outstanding , it would be very much appreciated if you could complete thepayment before the school closes on Friday 28th June 2019.

Books can only be supplied to your children when Rental of €100has been paid in full.

Maintenance Contribution:

I would like to thank the families who have contributed consistently throughout the year. This payment helps with the cost of maintaining the school building and with the purchasing of school equipment which enhances the learning environment of the school. The €5.00 Maintenance Contribution for June can now be paid. The draw for €100 takes place on Thursday 27th June 2019. Please ensure that you are included in the draw by sending your contribution to the office on or before Thursday 27th June.

Library Books:

We have invested large amounts of money in the purchasing of a variety of reading materials for the children. If any of the school library books have been borrowed by the children we would like the books to be returned to the class library before the summer holidays.

6th Class BBQ:

Ms. Gilmore our School Completion Coordinator and the 6th Class teachers will hold a BBQ for the 6th Class children on Tuesday 25th June 2019.This is to mark and celebrate the enormous contribution made to the school by our 6th Class pupils who will be moving to second level in the coming year. We wish them well.

6th Class Graduation:

The Graduation for the 6th Classes will celebrated by Fr. Pat McKinley in St. Mark’s Church on Wednesday 26th June at 11.30 am. This is a very special event to mark the end of the children’s primary education, a milestone in the lives of the children themselves and their parents and guardians. All families received an invitation to this event. Please note that children under the age of 18 years must be accompaniedby an adult. All families are invited to the School Hall following the graduation ceremony.

All Weather Running Track/ Sponsored 10km Walk:

Some exciting news!An All Weather Running Track will be installed around our school pitch during the summer holidays! The total cost will be€58,000, which is being shared between the Junior School and the Senior School. Our Sponsored 10km Walkwhich was held on 14th June 2019 was a fundraiser to help with the cost of the track. A big thank you to everyone in the community who sponsored the children. We are delighted with the total amount raised by the Sponsored Walk which to date is €7,205.A terrific amount of money! This will go towards the cost of the running track which will be used on a daily basis by the school children in the next academic year.

6th Class Cake Sale

Our 6th Class children held Our Annual Cake sale for our twin school in Mozambique, Passo a Passo on Thursday 20th June. The children and their families baked an enormous selection of cakes and buns. The Cake Sale was a wonderful success and the children raised total of €2000.

A special thank you to the 6th Class children who made a donation to Passo a Passoafter their Confirmation. Mr. Fitzsimons, principal of Passo a Passo is overwhelmed with the support St. Mark’s children and teachers have made to the children in his school. They are currently constructing a basketball court for their school.

New School Academic Year:

The school will re-open on Monday 2nd September 2019 for all children. Reminder the start time for each year group varies on Monday 2nd September, .i.e. not all children will be starting at 8.50 am. Each year group will receive a message on the school App at the end of August, informing them of the official start time for their class on the first day of term.

Wishing you all a very happy and safe summer holiday.

Your sincerely
